October is Residents' Rights Month

The Board of Larimer County Commissioners signed a proclamation at their Administrative Matters meeting declaring October in Larimer County as National Long-Term Care Residents’ Rights Month.

“I am happy it’s residents rights month and I think that is important in our community that people live with dignity and have rights no matter where they live,” said Larimer County Commissioner Kristin Stephens. National Long-Term Care Residents’ Rights Month honors residents living in all long-term care facilities or receiving care at home, with dignity, respect and value for each resident. National Long-Term Care Residents Rights Month theme is “Reclaiming My Rights, My Home, and My Life.”

“It’s really important especially after the pandemic after folks felt so isolated from their loved ones that we reassert these rights and recognize the choice to age with dignity and grace,” said Larimer County Commissioner Jody Shadduck-McNally.

“I am glad we have the ability for folks can indeed age in place age in their community where it makes sense and live the well-deserved dignity and respect and independence older adults ought to have,” said Larimer County Commissioner John Kefalas.
