Kelly McCullough named Legal Director at DLC

           Disability Law Colorado is pleased to announce that Kelly McCullough has been selected to be our next Legal Director. After a nationwide search for suitable candidates, Kelly was one of two finalists. According to Executive Director Carrie Griffin Basas, “Kelly stood out in her commitment to this organization, her desire to ask critical questions and reflect where she and we could grow, and her ability to build relationships.” 

            Kelly began her career working as a mental health social worker in Ohio.  She graduated in 2010 from Washington University in St. Louis with a  Juris doctorate and a master’s degree in Social work.  Kelly has extensive trial experience and spent 10 years as an attorney in the Colorado Public Defender’s office in Colorado Springs. She joined Disability Law Colorado in 2020 and has led the Access Team and has served as one of our interim legal directors over the past 8 months. Kelly reflects, “I have loved working on disability advocacy and tackling these tough issues with such dedicated coworkers at Disability Law Colorado.  I am excited to keep fighting for disability rights alongside them in this new role.  I plan to use my 10 years of experience in the courtroom as a Colorado Public Defender to expand our litigation advocacy.”
