Investigation

Disability Law Colorado has the authority under federal law to gain access to facilities and records to investigate allegations of abuse and neglect of people with mental illness or developmental disabilities, as well as older people or people in the corrections system.

We investigate nursing homes, regional centers, group homes, jails, prisons, and secure mental health facilities.

Disability Law Colorado also investigates the unlawful use of seclusion and restraint in schools. Following an investigation our recommendations usually include training for school and/or school district personnel on the law on the use of seclusion and restraint.

If you would like to report an instance of abuse or neglect, please contact us directly or submit your case using our online form.
