Disability Law Colorado (DLC) is a statewide, nonprofit organization dedicated to securing the rights of the more than one million Coloradans with disabilities. We aim to make our state the best place in America to live and work with a disability.
As Colorado’s Protection and Advocacy System, we use our federal authority to root out discrimination, abuse, and neglect—from schools to prisons, nursing homes to voting booths. DLC advances justice through advocacy, legal action, education, and outreach.
DLC is seeking dedicated, passionate leaders to join our Board of Directors. We are especially interested in recruiting individuals with disabilities and others who share our commitment to disability justice. Among other responsibilities, Board members set the long-term direction of DLC, monitor the organization’s success and financial health, and act as public ambassadors—gathering and sharing information about disability barriers and opportunities across the state.
Board member expectations:
• Bimonthly, hybrid meetings. The Board meets from 4 pm to 6 pm on the third Thursday of odd-numbered months.
• Committees. Each member serves on at least one committee, whose activities take place between Board meetings.
• Fundraising. Each member makes a financial contribution to DLC, appropriate to their circumstances, and helps raise money for the organization.
• Outreach. Members spread the word about DLC throughout their communities.
